Thermal Bath Natationes explores the relationship between architecture, geography, and the silence of a place. Its point of departure is the fundamental question of whether, and to what extent, architecture is entitled to occupy a geographical site and alter its original conditions. Subterranean spatial structures and deep geothermal boreholes integrate the geological and energetic potential of the territory into the architectural conception. Precisely positioned incisions in the building volume direct sunlight onto the bodies of those receiving treatment. Water, geothermal heat, and sunlight thus become spatially operative elements. The project understands architecture not merely as a physical intervention, but as a critical investigation into the relationship between the human body, natural processes, and the integrity of a place.
